The past weekend – 10/11 June – saw Daniel participate in the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside the Heart Of Racing team in the WEC championship.
An event that has drawn great attention to itself, also because this year we were celebrating the 100th anniversary of the first edition held in 1923.
Over 300,000 people took part in the event, described as “spectacular” by Daniel himself, due to the scenography, the fireworks at night and the strong turnout of fans and enthusiasts from all over the world.
Daniel and team mates Ian James and Alex Riberas driving the Aston Martin Vantage GTE #98 Northwest AMR (The Heart Of Racing team) were forced to start from eighteenth position, despite having qualified tenth, due to a penalty for a lack of slowdown foreseen by regulation.
Luckily, after about 3/4 hours, Daniel and his team mates manage to recover several positions, reaching ninth place and successfully continuing the race.
Unfortunately a very strong storm broke out around midnight causing reduced visibility but despite the difficult conditions and the aquaplaning phenomenon, Mancinelli managed not to make any mistakes and climbed up to 6th place. A position that the Northwest AMR riders then managed to maintain in the last 2 hours of Sunday, concluding the race in sixth position.
“Great satisfaction for me and for the team, we had a great 24 hours free from mistakes.” – said Daniel – “I thank Aston Martin Racing and The Heart Racing team for this great opportunity”.
