The weekend just spent at the Marco Simoncelli circuit in Misano for the third round of the Italian Gran Turismo Championship was certainly positive.
Saturday in qualifying 1, Fontana, driving the Ferrari 488 Gt3 of the Easy Race team, managed to get the fifth best time by stopping the lap at 1’33 “9.
Daniel, on the other hand, took to the track for the second qualifying session, managed to get an amazing pole position, scoring 1’32″8.
At the start of race 1, Fontana, who started very well, managed to overtake the Lamborghini of Palma at the first corner.
After a few laps, Andrea was close to the BMW of Comandini but after several attempts to overcame the driver a contact with the German car caused him a dechapage of the front left tire with consequent withdrawal.
In race 2, Daniel, starting from the first position, managed to contain the Lamborghini #63 of Zampieri and the Ferrari #27 of Rugolo and stretching 1 second before the pit stop that the Lamborghini #63 has anticipated.
After the driver change, Fontana took the place of Mancinelli and found himself behind Altoè – who has taken over Zampieri – going to close under the checkered flag in second position.
“That’s a pity for the withdrawal of race 1.” – Daniel said – “But we redeemed ourselves in race 2 with a great second place and certainly the pole position helped us a lot. The Easy Race team did a great job Saturday night to repair the front of the car after the contact. It was nice and encouraging to have great support from my fans at Misano! Next meeting with the CIGT is at Mugello next July 16-17.”
We also remind you that next weekend Daniel will be on the Road America circuit for the fourth round of the Pirelli World Challenge.
