The last weekend on the Bahrain circuit saw the last race of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) take place.
During the qualifying session on Friday 1 November, despite not having the pace of the top drivers, Ian James still managed to take an excellent sixth position on the starting grid.
At the start of the race on Saturday 2 November, Ian managed to maintain a good race pace, always remaining between sixth and seventh position.
At the driver change two and a half hours into the race, Daniel began his driving stints with a good pace, arriving in his last stint about two and a half hours from the end of the race to grab third position, thanks also to the intervention of a Safety Car.
Alex, who then took the wheel from Mancinelli, thanks to an overtaking on the #85 Lamborghini of the Iron Dames team, found himself in second position and subsequently managed to take the lead.
A further intervention of the safety car allowed the opponents to change the tires again, while the Hearth of Racing team – having tires with only 8 laps on them – only refueled.
At the next restart the opponents – having a much better pace – overtook Alex again who finished the race in eleventh position.
The Hearth of Racing team, also due to the victory of the Ferrari #55, thus finished the season in fifth position.
“I’m a bit bitter about the weekend in Bahrain.” – Daniel said – “I hoped we were a bit more competitive also considering the podium obtained last year. Unfortunately, races are like that. However, we are very satisfied with the season: finishing fifth in the standings with a victory (on the home circuit) and two podiums is still a good result considering it is our first year in the GT3-LM category. I thank The Hearth of Racing team and all the sponsors who made all this possible.”
