The weekend just ended, 20-21 September, at the Spa Francorchamps circuit which saw Daniel debut in the Michelin Le Mans Cup at the wheel of the Porsche GT3 R of the Ebimotors team was very positive.
The Italian driver immediately adapted well to the new car, still to be discovered, after having had only a first taste in a test at Mugello a few days before the race.
During the free practice the race pace demonstrated by Mancinelli was immediately interesting and in line with that of the leaders of the Championship Piccini-Pianezzola #8 and Mak-Lavergne #71.
The qualification, which by regulation must be made by the Bronze drivers, saw Venerosi, Daniel’s team-mate, get the ninth place after having completed only one lap due to a small technical problem that prevented him from finishing the session.
In the race Venerosi immediately started good, managing to recover two positions after the first hour of the race. After a few minutes from the opening of the window for the mandatory pit stop, the entry of the safety car due to an accident neutralized the race. Arrived at the time of the opening of the pit unfortunately the Porsche GT3 R driven by Venerosi, unlike the opponents that preceded it, was not in the pit entry zone, thus losing about sixty seconds to reach the pit lane.
After the pit stop, carried out in a really perfect way by the guys from team Ebimotors, Mancinelli immediately launched a comeback and, despite the detachment from the Mercedes #54 that preceded him, he was able to reduce the gap and bypass the Calamia-Pampanini car finishing the race in fifth position.
“It is a pity that the safety car situation has really penalized us.” – Daniel said – “The podium was within our reach today. In any case, I would like to thank all the Ebimotors team and my teammate Venerosi for their support and professionalism.”
