The weekend just ended at the Monza circuit – where the penultimate round of the Italian Gran Turismo Championship took place – was all comeback.
During the Q1, Daniel managed to conquer a good fourth position on the starting grid just 2 tenths of second from the pole position.
At the start of race 1, with rain conditions, after 5-6 laps Mancinelli managed to overtake the BMW which in the meantime occupied the fourth position but at the exit of the first variant the BMW hit the Ferrari 488 Gt3 of Daniel causing damage to the exhaust and the consequent withdrawal of the Easyrace team.
At the start of race 2, Fontana, who started from the 9th position after the qualifying session, struggled a bit to maintain the race pace but managed to deliver the car to Daniel at the pit stop keeping the 9th position.
Mancinelli, back on track, immediately imposed a good race pace managing to recover 3 positions and finish race 2 in 6th position.
“Throughout the weekend we were not as fast as we wanted.” – Daniel said – “I’m happy to be able to recover three positions and to finish race 2 in sixth position. They are not many points but they are important for the podium in the championship. As usual the Easyrace team has worked hard to give us a car at its best performance. Now all the efforts are aimed at the next event at Mugello, where last July we managed to get a great podium.”
