The weekend just passed, 01-02 March, officially opened the 2024 season of the FIA WEC Championship. The first round of this exciting competition took place on the Qatar circuit.
The debut, for Daniel and his teammates Ian James and Alex Riberas, fully repaid the expectations that the entire The Hearth of Racing team had after the excellent results of last year.
The team was fast in all the sessions and since free practice the car has always proven to be very solid, constant and above all high-performance.
In qualifying – Friday 1 March – Ian James achieved an excellent fifth position, gaining the third row on the starting grid.
At the start of the race on Saturday, Ian immediately managed to set an excellent race pace, recovering several positions and moving into the first three places.
Daniel, who took to the track after the change, managed to recover another position and in the various driving sessions with Alex moved into first position.
In the final laps, however, the Porsche #92 came out with a good pace, managing to overtake the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo version #27 and take first place at the finish line for a few seconds.
“It was a really, really positive weekend.” – Daniel said – “The whole team worked very well and the strategy was perfect. The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 proved to be a high-performance and consistent car. I thank The Hearth of Racing team for the effort that allowed us to conquer this result and my teammates for the excellent feeling that was created. I can’t wait for the next appointment in Imola, on my home circuit, next 19-21 April.”
