The last weekend in the Utah desert, round 7-8 of the SprintX series of the Pirelli World Challenge championship, was triumphant.
Although for Daniel it was a new circuit, since the free practice the Italian driver had a great feeling with the track thanks to the excellent performance of the Ferrari 488 Gt3 prepared by the Tr3 Racing team.
In qualifying for just 3 cents of second from the Acura #93, which was very fast on the straight lines, Mancinelli didn’t win the pole position.
At Race 1, the Acura #93 succeeded in earning a few meters of advantage from Mancinelli.
The Italian driver had to put in the pursuit of the leader, succeeding in recovering important seconds also thanks to the fast lap scoring in this first stage of the race.
At the mandatory pit stop, the Acura #93 decided to stop immediately to the box, while Daniel, being able to take advantage of the free run, completed another lap to push.
At the pit stop, perfect by the Tr3 Racing team, Mancinelli left the car to his team-mate Nicolò, who returned to the track with 3 seconds of gap on the Acura #93.
After a few laps, however, due to some raindrops, Nicolò ended up in the lead, losing the leadership but closing race 1 in P2.
At Race 2, from the pole position thanks to the best time scored by Daniel in Race 1, Nicolò started off very well and in the first 25 minutes of racing he managed to earn more than 3 seconds advantage over the direct tracker.
At the mandatory pit stop, Daniel came back on track with a decent lead on the second, succeeding in winning 11 seconds of gap from his direct tracker, but vanished due to the safety car’s entry into the track following an accident.
At the restart of the race, Mancinelli managed to gain a few meters of advantage from the Acura #43 but it was not enough to avoid its attack at the end of the straight line.
The Italian driver quickly replied at the exit of the first bend, succeeding in getting back to the head and winning race 2.
