This weekend, 10-11 May, the third round of the FIA WEC championship will take place on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
Daniel and The Heart of Racing team arrive at this event with an excellent third place in the championship, equal on points with the WRT team currently in second position.
The expectation for this race is to achieve victory given that Mancinelli and his teammates Ian James and Alex Riberas came very close at the start of the championship and achieved the top 5 in the Imola race, where the weather conditions were quite bizarre.
The key point in this event will be tire wear, which tends to degrade very quickly on the Spa-Francorchamps asphalt. The goal is to conserve the tires as much as possible given that the sets of tires that each team has available are limited.
Being able to manage tire wear well, especially in the second stint, will be the key to being fast and managing to obtain an excellent placing. Another fundamental point will be to avoid track limits which will require a lot of attention with degraded tires.
In short, a race that promises to be tough and very close.
“I’m very confident for this race.” – Daniel said – “I, Ian and Alex have prepared for a long time in the simulator. The team has worked hard in recent days analyzing the data from the last race to decide the best strategy. Fortunately the weather should be stable. We hope to bring home a good result to consolidate our position in the championship.”
The race will start on Saturday 11th at 1.00 pm and will end at 7.00 pm.
For those wishing to follow the race weekend, they will be able to do so as always live on Eurosport or in streaming on fiawec.tv.
